Lafayette, LA
Betty Tripp, 90, of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away on March 15, 2026, at Cedar Crest Memory Care. Born on June 2, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was a long-time resident of Acadiana. After earning her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Pondville Massachusetts Hospital, Betty dedicated her life to caring for others with compassion and professionalism.
She met and married the love of her life, Warren Lester Tripp, and together they moved to Louisiana, where they raised three beloved daughters. Betty devoted more than 50 years to nursing at Lafayette General Medical Center and continued volunteering at the hospital long after her retirement. A faithful charter member of Northwood United Methodist Church, she served as President of the United Methodist Women, as a Delegate to the United Methodist Convention, and as an active participant in the United Methodist Camping Club. She found great joy in reading and in crocheting afghans for her family and friends.
In retirement, Betty cherished time spent with family and friends and loved traveling across the United States with her church camping group. Family remained the heart of her world, and she will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Doucet and husband Johnny of Lafayette, Louisiana, Donna Waldrop and husband Hal of Frisco, Texas, and Laura Foley and husband Peter of Canton, Mississippi; her brother, Dona Beaucaire, Jr. of Biloxi, Mississippi; her sister, Roberta VanSlambrouck and husband Steve of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Sara Thevis, Gregory Doucet, Tiffany Dobbelaer, Bryan Waldrop, Emily Prester, Sterling Foley, Grayson Foley, Rosalia Foley, and Declan Foley; and five great-grandchildren, Vance Doucet, Hannah Thevis, Reid Doucet, Linley Prester, Finn Prester, and June Prester. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Warren Lester Tripp; her parents, Dona Beaucaire, Sr. and Mildred Grace Beaucaire; her sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Armstrong; and her sister-in-law, Winnie Beaucaire.
