Betty Smith

Betty Smith, 78, of Lafayette, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born and reared in the community of Scott, she spent most of her life in Lafayette, where she found deep joy in the company of friends and family, especially in caring for her grandson.

A longtime member of St. Leo the Great Church, Betty was known for her quiet devotion and warm presence. She is survived by her husband, Huey Smith of Lafayette; her children, Shana Sealy and her husband Richard of Lafayette, and Elliot Smith and his wife Crystal of Carencro; and her grandson, Luke Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alicia Guidroz and Dewey Thomas, and her sister, Dorothy Thomas Sonnier.

Her family will carry forward the love and memories she so generously shared throughout her life.
