Betty R. McKown

Betty R. McKown, 91, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Davenport Lutheran Home.

Born Betty Rae Bish on August 22, 1934, in Ottumwa, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Louise (Fells) Bish. She married Allen Crotts, Sr., and together they had six children before separating. Betty worked as a substitute teacher and in the library for the Davenport Public Schools, and later bartended at several local establishments, including the Doo Dah Saloon in Davenport.

She found quiet joy in reading and in playing Yahtzee and Bingo. Above all, family remained the center of Betty’s world. She took special delight in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who were her greatest source of pride and happiness.

Betty is survived by her children, Robin Martinez of Davenport, Allen (Deno Printy) Crotts, Jr. of Rock Island, Kathy (Frank Bennett) Crotts of Davenport, Tim Crotts of Davenport, Gary Crotts of Bettendorf, and Kelly (Darryl) Johnson of Moline; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Edna Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Guadalupe Martinez; grandchildren Angela Martinez, Breanna Masterson, and Eddie Gordon; and six sisters and two brothers.
