Indianapolis, IN

Betty Marie Gunn, born February 2, 1939, in Campton, Kentucky, passed away on March 10, 2026. A devoted mother, she is survived by her daughter, Cindy Watson, and was preceded in death by her son, Michael Dougherty. She is also survived by her brother Dan (Sherron) Bailey, granddaughter Jennifer Pennington, and great-granddaughter Paisleigh Pennington. Betty was predeceased by her sisters Rosie Jean Bryant and Carol Sue Burford, and her brother Bud Center. She cherished her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty shared a deep and enduring friendship with Fran Hardee, serving for many years as nanny to Fran’s sons, Jacob and Johnathon, who called her “Grams” and whom she loved as her own grandchildren. She took great joy in Jacob’s recent entry into fatherhood. Her friend Beth remained a steadfast presence in her life. Betty found her greatest love in her relationship with Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of Christian Tabernacle Church, where she treasured her church family.

She delighted in family gatherings, crafting, playing games, and, above all, reading her Bible and spending quiet time with the Lord. Betty was deeply loved by all who knew her, and she will be fondly remembered by everyone whose lives she touched.
