The quintessential Eastporter, she loved her family, blue crabs, her church, and the Maryland Terrapins. Betty was born on November 14, 1930, in Eastport, to the late Herbert and Gladys Sadler. She graduated from Annapolis High School, where she met her greatest love, Ramon E. Meade. They were married in 1951 and were together on earth for fifty-one years. Betty was a true matriarch to her family and celebrated member of the Eastport community, where she worked at Cullimore's, Annapolis Bank & Trust, and at Sadler's Seafood, the family business. She earned her CNA certificate from Anne Arundel Community College, volunteered at Eastport Elementary School and Eastport Baptist Food Pantry, and knitted dozens of baby blankets for NICUs around the country. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Eastport, where she held myriad leadership roles. When she wasn't volunteering, knitting, or working, she was cheering for the Maryland Women's Basketball Team. She is survived by her sister, Dottie Sadler Hemphill, of Lutherville, MD; three children and their spouses: Rae J. and Frederick Miller of Annapolis; Herbert M. and Andrea Meade of Edgewater; and Deborah L. and Keith T. Davies of Whispering Pines, NC. She is the beloved grandmother of Kurt T. Davies of Brooklyn, NY, Kathryn L. Cortes of Vass, NC, Sean M. Green of Annapolis, Ashley R. Meade of Edgewater, MD, Evan K. Davies, of Whispering Pines, NC. She is "GG" to seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon, sisters Dolores (Dee) Monch and Nellie Ann (Pat) Carrigan, and grandchildren Ramon K. and Kara B. Davies. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Betty's life on Tuesday, March 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where an additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 10:30 am before her funeral service begins at 11:30 am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
