June 3, 1953— March 13, 2026
Elk Point, SD
Betty Krump, 72, of Elk Point, South Dakota, passed away on March 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Born on June 3, 1953, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Charles and Rosemary Dahlgren, Betty grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota. To know her was to love her. She had a gift for making people feel seen, cared for, and welcomed, and her kindness and strength left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Betty devoted much of her career to the American Technical Education Association, where she served as Executive Director for many years. Her leadership, dedication, and vision earned her deep respect in the field of technical education. She retired in 2011 to become a full-time grandmother and live closer to her grandson, a role she cherished above all others.
On October 26, 1974, she married Richard Krump. Together they welcomed their daughter, Timmi, and shared 28 years of marriage and many cherished memories. Betty found joy in fishing and soaking up the sun from the boat, cheering on NASCAR and NHRA races, and riding motorcycles with her significant other, Paul. Yet nothing brought her greater happiness than the time she spent with her grandsons.
She is survived by her daughter Timmi (Brandon) Johnson, her beloved grandsons Ryker and Garrick Johnson, her brothers Tim Dahlgren and Robin (Karen) Dahlgren, and the love of her life, Paul Mosey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Rachel Gannon and Jeanie Christensen, her brothers Dean and Jay Dahlgren, and her ex-husband and friend Richard Krump.
