Betty Duncan ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Harvest Hills Funeral Home on Mar. 12, 2026.Betty Lou (Alexander) Duncan of Hico, Texas entered Heaven, joining her beloved husband Fred, on March 12, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born in 1933 in Clairette, Texas to parents Joe Henry and Bertha Elizabeth (Whiteside) Alexander.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and church member, Betty made a deep impact and investment into many lives over the years. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her as Granny, and one of Betty's greatest joys was spending time with them and taking them to Vacation Bible School at church. She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and cooking for them. Betty and Fred loved to camp and travel together and even belonged to a Camper Club. She loved crafting, especially crochet and sewing, and was an avid bowler. Betty loved being in fellowship with her church family, including the women's group where she was a godly influence on many generations of younger wives and moms.Betty attended school in Clairette through the 5th grade, then transferred to Hico, where she graduated high school in 1950. After graduating high school, she worked at Herrington's Grocery Store, then for Barnes & McCullough Lumber Company. After moving to Irving, Betty worked for Chance Vought Corp.; then after her kids started school, she began working for Irving ISD.Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Duncan, and her parents Joe and Bertha Alexander, as well as by her sisters Ima Dee Cozby, Hazel Nadine Alexander and Mary Jo Patterson and brother, Bobby Kenneth Alexander.Surviving are Betty's two sons, Ken Duncan and wife Hilary, Paul Duncan and wife Sherry. Surviving grandchildren include Kristen Fritz and husband Louis, Caleb Duncan and wife Candice, Nick Duncan and wife Jackie, Caitlin Golightly and husband Roe, Rachel Duncan and partner Russell Johnson; great-grandchildren Ryler Duncan, Tustin Nachtigal, Decclan Duncan, Braden and Harper Fritz.Visitation: 1-3 p.m., Monday, March 16 at First Baptist Church Hico, 211 Walnut St.Service: 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 16 at First Baptist Church HicoBurial: Hico Cemetery, Hwy 6, Hico, TXTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
