Betty Lambert

Betty Lambert

Elmira, NY

Betty Lambert, aged 101, passed away peacefully in her home of 62 years on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Born in Victor, New York, to Robert and Jennie Clary Cooley, she was predeceased by her husband, Mark W. Lambert Sr., and her son, Matthew P. Lambert.

She is survived by her sons Mark W. “Billy” Lambert Jr. (Lorraine) of Millport, New York, Robert K. Lambert (Maribeth) of Penn Yan, New York, Brian P. Lambert (Cathy) of Rochester, New York, and Thomas M. “Ty” Lambert of Rochester, New York; her daughter Mary E. “MB” Lambert of Rochester, New York, who was predeceased by her spouse, Lacy Callen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Betty was also cherished by three little “fur grandbabies” who remained by her side until the end.

A devout Catholic, Betty found deep purpose in her faith. Her beloved rosary chains brought healing and comfort to family, friends, and strangers alike throughout her long life. She delighted in gathering her large family and many friends around her, especially welcoming her children’s friends into her home and treating them to her wonderful cooking, most notably her famous brownies that are still fondly remembered. An avid gardener, she found joy in the birds that visited her each day, and she was a formidable bridge player, known for her competitive spirit even when playing against her own children.

Those who knew her best understood that Betty’s remarkable longevity came from her steadfast faith and her profound love for family and friends. She often credited two simple words as well: drink water.
