Betty J. Thompson of Tempe, Arizona, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2026. Born on June 23, 1934, in Grapevine, Texas, to John Curtis and Odessa Jane (Lowe) Miller, she moved with her family to Mesa, Arizona, as an infant. Betty graduated from Mesa High School in 1953 and went on to pursue a distinguished career in nursing. She earned her LPN at the Licensed Practical Nursing School in Great Falls, Montana, and later received her RN degree from the Church of God College in Anderson, Indiana. For twenty-five years, she served as a dedicated nurse and Director of Nursing in both general and psychiatric care settings.

On November 17, 1979, Betty married Raymond E. Thompson of Chandler, Arizona. Together they shared 46 years of marriage and enjoyed square dancing in their younger days. Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Ray; her children Lois (Bob) Tester of Rathdrum, Idaho, David (Tonya) Knutson of Phoenix, and son-in-law Don Vogl of Arch Cape, Oregon; her stepchildren Julie (Jeff) Whitling of Knox, Pennsylvania, and Brenda Blair of Knox, Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Sara (Bob) Siebert of Ocala, Florida, Linda (Gerry) Best of Knox, Pennsylvania, and Alma Thompson of San Angelo, Texas, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Betty J. Vogl, her son F. Edward Knutson, her grandson Bobby John Tester, and her siblings.
