With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Joyce Gheen of Sugar Valley, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 7, 2026 at the age of 87. As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Betty may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Roscoe Stinnett and Thelma Stinnett; her husband Charles William Gheen; her son Bryan Keith Gheen; and her sister Peggy Woodby.

She is survived by: her son Mark Gheen (Angie); her granddaughter Alyce Gheen of Knoxville, TN; her sister Mary Garrison; her niece Melinda Goble (Rodney) of Sugar Valley, GA; and her caregivers, Sue Ledford and Kelley Kirby. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home (535 Red Bud Rd NE, Calhoun, GA 30701). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 15th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
