She was born in Leachville, Arkansas on February 22, 1935, to the late Rastus and Lavern Hampton. Betty has been a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Naturally beautiful, Betty was a beauty queen growing up, even becoming runner-up in a pageant. She married the love of her life, Jackie Brooks, in 1958 and recently celebrated 67 blissful years together. Her long marriage and many years with the same company reflected the commitment, loyalty and character that defined Betty. Upon retiring from Barnett Bank after 30 years, Betty and Jackie purchased an RV and enjoyed traveling all over the country, with the Suwannee River Jam being a favorite stopping point. When she wasn't traveling you could find Betty shopping and being sure to take advantage of the Belk's Senior Day. While she loved traveling and shopping, Betty's greatest happiness was being actively involved in her son and grandchildren's lives. She will be greatly missed. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Rastus and Lavern Hampton; brother, Don Hampton; and sister, Doris Holt.Betty leaves behind her loving husband, Jackie Brooks; son, Randy (Tina) Brooks; grandchildren, Halston (Natalie) Brooks, Brittany (Ronald) Staffelli; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Hudson, Bennett, Adaline, Lilah, Alexandria, Reagan and Bristol.A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32218, with her grandson Pastor Halston Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends half hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
