Betty Joan (Thompson) Sakas, 90, of Baltimore, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at her residence. Born on February 12, 1936 in Laurelville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Bessie Thompson.

Betty retired from the State of Ohio Department of Unemployment after a dedicated career. She was a longtime active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and found joy in the companionship of the Red Hat Society, Sometimers, and the Olivedale Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Irene (Ron) DiPaolo of Lancaster and Daniel (Lora) Sakas of Florida; step-grandchildren Dennis DiPaolo, Sr., Matthew (Tonya) DiPaolo, Joseph DiPaolo, Christine DiPaolo, and Alexandra Neff; step-great-grandchildren Katlyn (Byron) Porter, Dennis DiPaolo, Jr., Sophia DiPaolo, Nikolas DiPaolo, James DiPaolo, Richard Schriner, Mikayla Schriner, and Morgan Schriner; and step-great-great-grandson Tatum Porter. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish her memory.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, George Sakas; her parents; step-grandchild Jodon Sakas; sisters Bernice Marie Woodward, Alice Mary Jones, Jean Sprung, Helen Ruth Thompson, Sally M. Disbennet, Edith Marlene Shonk, and Arla Lines; and brothers Chuck Edward Thompson, Judd Donald Thompson, Robert Lee Thompson, John William Thompson, Jack Thompson, and Daniel Thompson.
