Betty Cosby ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bacarella Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 5, 2026.Betty Jo (McDaniel) Cosby was born on March 18, 1936 in Tazewell, Tennessee.She was one of six daughters born to Joe McDaniel and Julie (Pendleton) McDaniel.On June 28, 1957, Betty married the love of her life, Bennie Cosby, in Angola, Indiana. They made Monroe, Michigan their home and a few years later they were blessed with a daughter and a son. Betty enjoyed being a homemaker and a stay-at-home mother for many years. Once her children were older, she began a new career at Monroe County Community Credit Union for many years until she retired.Betty enjoyed her vegetable garden and fruit trees. She also loved her flowers! Betty loved canning and freezing vegetables and making jellies and jams. The family loved her sweet corn, green beans and strawberry jam.She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as "Mamaw" to her grands.Betty was of the Baptist faith and attended both Frenchtown Missionary Baptist and CrossPointe Church.Betty Jo Cosby, age 89, of Monroe Michigan passed peacefully at Chattanooga Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Her passing was preceded by her parents; husband, Bennie Cosby; son, Thomas Cosby; and five sisters.To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her daughter, Cathy (Cosby) Lewis; daughter in law, Linda Cosby; six grandchildren: Jenna Harness (Matt), Larissa Gonzalez (Abel), Jacob Lewis (Christina), Courtney Huntington (Andrew), Justus Cosby, and Shelby Cosby; and nine great grandchildren: Parker, Aubree, Drake, Holden, Mattie, Bennie, Xavier, Beckham, and Leighton.Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 9th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. B.J. McDaniel, pastor of One Way Christian Fellowship Church will officiate. Burial will be privately attended at Roselawn Memorial Park.In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still.
