Betty Jean Warnock

Betty Jean Warnock, age 94, of Hill View Retirement Center, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at home with her son Wayne and daughter-in-law Barbara by her side. Born on February 7, 1932, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late William Newell and Jane Vickery Horton.

A graduate of Portsmouth High School, Betty worked as a secretary for the Scioto County Commissioners before retiring. She was a longtime member of the Sciotoville Christian Church, where her faith and quiet dedication were cherished by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. “Smiley” Warnock, a brother, Newtie Horton, and a sister, Janet Stapleton.

Surviving are her two sons, Gary (Maggie) Warnock and Wayne (Barbara) Warnock; four grandchildren, Jesse (Valerie) Warnock, Megan (Tana) Warnock, Nathan (Billie) Eaves, and Jacob Bodner; great-grandchildren Shea, Sophia, Zayne, Nolan, Cameron, Hadley, and Myles; and several nieces and nephews.
