Betty Jane Copenhaver passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family at Lorien Nursing Home in Taneytown. Born on August 23, 1932, in Enterprise, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Heffner, Sr. and Annie Condon Heffner. She was the devoted wife of the late Ray Angell Copenhaver for nearly seventy years.

Betty worked for twenty-two years at Butte Knit and later retired from EZ Industries. A longtime and active member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown, she served on many committees and was cherished for her generous spirit. She was known for her exceptional angel food cakes and her love of a simple BLT sandwich. Betty found great joy in cooking for family and friends, always keeping her table open and welcoming. She cherished the outdoors, especially feeding and watching birds, and held a deep affection for children, quietly supporting causes that helped them.

She is survived by her four daughters, Susan Topper and her husband Patrick, Myra Caprarola and her husband Stephen, Debra Black and her husband Jeff, and Cathy Gronaw and her husband Tom; five granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; and her sister, Martha Brown. She was predeceased by her grandson Collin Caprarola, her brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
