Betty Condon ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Trahan Funeral Chapel & Prearrangement Center on Mar. 12, 2026.On Tuesday, March 10th, 2026 Betty Jane Condon (née Dining) passed away at age 93. She was predeceased in 2008 by her husband of 56 years, Albert Condon.Betty is survived by her children, George (Vicki) Condon, Peggy Condon Watson, David (Kathy) Condon and Diane (Patrick Ober) Condon-Boutier; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with another expected soon; a sister, Connie Bloom; and several nieces and nephews. They will fondly remember the time, energy and love Betty gave them attending sports events and ceremonies, including them on family vacations and sharing so many breakfast gatherings at her favorite spots. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Dining of Linwood; a sister, Marilyn (Joe) Haskins; a brother-in-law, Ted Bloom; and a son-in-law, Terry Watson.Born in Fraser Township on a family farm, Betty grew up loving the Bay County area, and simple pursuits such as gardening. Her yard was filled with flowers of all kinds, and she always requested gift certificates from nurseries as gifts at Christmas and birthdays. However, she rarely cut flowers to bring inside, preferring them to live their life span in one spot, a theme which carried over into her personal life as she and her husband Albert lived in the same home for the bulk of their married life. However, it was important to Betty that the land acquired by her family stay in the family and she valued farming her parents' land each season.Betty graduated from Bay City Business College before setting aside her job to raise a family. During some of those years, she was a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout leader. Once the children were older, she began working at Sage Library in Bay City. From that time on, she was affectionately known as "the library lady". Until her passing, Betty was recognized while out and about by numerous students she helped by supplying them with resources for term papers and dissertations in the days before the internet. Patrons of Sage Library will remember her pleasant personality and ready smile. For six years, Betty and Albert owned La Petite Boutique, a lovely gift shop on Center Avenue in Bay City.Betty loved to travel, from family road trips up and down the east coast to simply going for a ride in the car, always being sure to visit any historical sites along the way. For Betty, happiest memories were made traveling with loved ones, particularly to the state parks of West Virginia. It was Betty's desire for cremation to take place.
