She graduated high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana and came from a coal mining family. She was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Betty worked in public health nursing until she had her children. She was an avid reader and enjoyed passing her passion for reading on to her grandchildren. Betty will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.Betty is survived by her daughters, Melissa Freels, Lisa Marx, and Heidi Ruder; several brothers and sisters; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Betty was preceded in death by her parent and husband of 62 years, Marvin Baughn.A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2451 Stringtown Rd., Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor David Wiist officiating.Friends may visit from 1:30 pm until service time on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church.Memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
