Betty J. Stokes was born in Columbus, Ohio, on March 13, 1932, to the late Harvey Sauls and Beatrice Ward Sauls. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, six days shy of her 94th birthday.
Betty was a dedicated businesswoman who owned and operated Freeman’s Fashions for many years. Through her work and her relationships with others, she touched many lives in her community.
She faithfully attended church at The Assembly and had a deep love for sharing her faith. Betty loved telling others about her Jesus and found great joy in spending time with the Lord and reading the Bible. She especially enjoyed attending religious seminars and conventions, where she continued to grow in her faith and fellowship with others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Stokes.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children; Sandy Hoyt (Ron) Steve Stokes and Kim Stokes; grandchildren, Ginger Morrison, Michelle Pappas, Amanda Watson, Melissa McKinney, Clay Hoyt, Michael McKinney and Matthew McKinney; eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with Betty’s family will be Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with the funeral service celebrating her life following in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. After the service, Betty will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
