Herrmann Funeral Homes - Greenwood on Mar. 10, 2026.Betty Glo Green, 88, of Greenwood, Indiana entered her heavenly home on March 5, 2026.Born October 4, 1937, in Dublin, Georgia, to the late Oscar Lewis and Rena V Cauthen, Betty lived a life defined by faith in God with devoted service to her family and friends. She was the oldest of four children and a leader from the start when her mother died at a young age. To those who knew her, it was clear that the kingdom of God was her highest priority. She was known as a faithful prayer warrior, regularly lifting up loved ones, her church, and her community.Betty earned her Bachelor's degree at Berry College in Georgia, where she met Harry, the man who would become her husband. In 1959, they married and began their life together in Fairburn, Georgia. They moved to Indiana in 1970 with their two daughters to serve with Youth for Christ as houseparents for Lifeline Youth Home for two years.Betty achieved her Masters degree at Butler University in Indianapolis in 1975. She began her Home Economics teaching career in Georgia before later teaching 28 years at Franklin Township Community School Corporation in Indianapolis. She was respected and loved by her students and their families for her encouragement, care, and dedication. She also chaired the 4-H fair program for Franklin Township during the summers. A lifelong participant in 4-H, Betty led the community programs while guiding her daughters and students in their projects. In her spare time, Betty was an expert seamstress participating in many local craft shows and an excellent cook who coordinated church gatherings, receptions, and regularly hosted guests for dinner.At home and in her church, Betty expressed her faith through acts of service. She was known for her hospitality, caring for those who were sick or in need, and faithfully serving behind the scenes wherever she was needed. Her faith was evident all through her life with the strength and care she gave her family and friends. She truly had the gift for making people feel special.Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother who served as the matriarch of her family. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her as they carry on her legacy for generations to come.Above all, Betty will be remembered for her steadfast faith, generous spirit, and the faithful love and prayers she poured into the lives of her family and those around her.Betty is survived by her daughters, Angela (Charles) Reno and Karen (Robert) Whiteside; her grandchildren, Amanda Davis (Tim), Connor Whiteside (Rita), Ashton Stoffer (Kevin), and Kaitlin Dean (Skylar); her great-grandchildren Andrew Davis, Luke Davis, Ella Davis, Beckett Stoffer, Adeline Stoffer, Owen Dean, and Hattie Dean; and her siblings, Lewis Cauthen, Charlene Ray, and Cynthia Thompson.She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Green, Jr., her daughter Mary Alice Green, and her parents, Oscar Lewis and Rena V Cauthen.Family and friends are invited to gather for the celebration of her life from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm for Visitation with the Memorial Service held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home,1605 S State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
