Betty Evelyn Savarese

1936 — 2026

Toccoa, GA

Betty Evelyn Taylor Savarese, 89, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Scenic View Skilled Nursing Facility. Born and raised in Rabun County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Howard and Laura Mageline (Ledbetter) Taylor.

A graduate of Rabun County High School, Evelyn worked for many years at Clayburn Manufacturing. Her true passion, however, was music. A talented guitarist and singer, she performed country music as a solo artist and as a dedicated member of her band, The Black Rock Mountain Boys, sharing her gifts at radio shows and community events throughout the region.

In her later years in Toccoa, Georgia, Evelyn devoted herself to her art. She found deep satisfaction in drawing and painting, exploring her creative talents while also taking great pride in learning about and honoring her Cherokee heritage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Willie Ramey, Louise Law, Verlene Williamson, and Vickie Choff; and one brother, Jesse Horace Taylor. Evelyn is survived by her children, Robin (Skip) Watts of Clayton, Melody (Tim) Henderson of Tiger, and Sterling (Tina) Massee of Eastanollee; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
