Betty was born on November 26, 1936, to Archie and Hazel Roach. She passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 89.
Betty spent her life sharing her love for music and her faith with others. She married Lee Dow Jenkins, on September 4, 1954, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion until Lee's passing on December 25, 2004. Their legacy of love continues to resonate throughout their family. An active member of Immanuel Baptist Church since January 1976, Betty was known for her beautiful talent as an organist, faithfully playing for her congregation and sharing her musical gifts with everyone around her. Even while residing in the nursing home, she continued to uplift the spirits of others with her piano playing. Betty's passion for music extended to her family, as she lovingly taught her children and grandchildren the joys of playing the piano, as well as mentoring young church members, Sidney and Natalie. Beyond her musical talents, Betty found joy in playing games like Canasta, Skip-Bo, dominoes, Chinese checkers, and bingo, creating countless cherished memories with family and friends. Betty's unwavering faith in the Lord and her loving spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Hazel Roach; husband, Lee D. Jenkins; brother, Bill Roach; son-in-law, Gary Wilson; and grandson, Joshua Jenkins. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Floyd (Doyle); son, Ricky Jenkins (Sharon); brother, George Roach; 2 brothers-in-law, John Jenkins (Linda) and Sam Jenkins (Tina); 2 granddaughters, Michelle Wilson (Vance Henderson) and Kathreen Hare; 3 grandsons, Randal Wilson (Marci), Jerry Wilson (Rose), and Roger Jenkins; and 7 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Jones, Cheyenne Henderson, Dakota Henderson, Austin Henderson, Olivia Wilson, Zaida Wilson, and Laney Wilson.
