Kannapolis, NC

Betty Ann Sloop Shaver, 93, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family.

Born November 29, 1932, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late C.M. Sloop and Ruth Goodman Sloop. From an early age, Betty embodied the values that would guide her throughout her life-faith, hard work, generosity, and care for others. Betty was a devoted member of Kimball Lutheran Church, where she faithfully served her congregation in many ways. Over the years she served on church council, taught Sunday school, and participated actively in her Bible study group. Her church community was an important part of her life, and her quiet faith and steady presence were a blessing to many. In 1969, Betty and her beloved husband, John L. Shaver Jr., founded Shaver Sound Service, Inc. Working side by side, they built the family business together, with Betty serving as office manager until her retirement.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John L. Shaver Jr. They shared 71 years of marriage, a lifelong partnership filled with love, devotion, and the quiet strength of building a family and life together.

She is survived by her four children: Debra Wood (Jim Cocke) of Fleetwood, North Carolina, Janet Hall (Dennis) of Asheville, North Carolina, Dennis Shaver (Chris) of Mooresville, and Don Shaver (Janice) of Salisbury.

She also leaves behind ten grandchildren-Kelsey Wood-Henry (Jack), Bryan Wood (Alex), Leslie Schlesinger (Stephan), Taylor D’Avanzo (Antonio), Robert Shaver (Reese), Reid Shaver (Allison), Paul Shaver, Kevin Shaver (Victoria), Hannah Forrest (Paul) , and Charles Cocke (Anna)-and 24 great-grandchildren who were a great source of pride and joy in her life.

Betty had a deep love of gardening and rarely let anything go to waste. Each season brought baskets of fresh vegetables from her garden, many of which she lovingly canned and shared with family and friends. She also crocheted countless afghans over the years, creating treasured keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. Betty was the most loving and caring person her family knew. She was always there for them-and for anyone who needed help-offering kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support.

Through her faith, her family, and the countless quiet acts of love that filled her days, Betty leaves a legacy that will live on for generations.

A visitation will be held at Kimball Lutheran Church in Kannapolis on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 1:00 pm, with the funeral service following at 2:30 pm. Pastor John Futterer will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Morningside of Concord, Home Instead and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
