Betty DeSmit ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Tiffany-Young-Hauss Modetz Chapel on Mar. 16, 2026.Mrs. Betty Ann DeSmit, formerly of Armada, died peacefully Sunday, March 15, 2026 at her home at the age of 87.Betty was born April 30, 1938 in Mt. Clemens to the late Clair and Bertha (Hall) Smith. She was married to her beloved husband, Albert DeSmit on March 24, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in Romeo.Betty worked at a bank in Port Huron in her younger years, and also as a cosmetologist in their home. She later worked at the Secretary of State in Romeo, and earned her Real Estate License along with Al. Her fulltime job was taking care of her daughter Jana. Betty enjoyed playing cards, going to dances, and hosting dinner with friends, spending time with family members and most of all, spoiling her two grandchildren. She attended as many of their sporting events as possible and found pleasure taking them on trips. Betty always looked forward to the hummingbirds returning outside her window every year in May and had to have the sugar water ready for them. She and Al were always excited to head to Florida for the winter months to escape the cold winters and enjoy the sunshine during retirement years.Betty was predeceased in death by her husband Albert (2000), her parents; Clair and Bertha Smith; twin brothers; Blake and Brion Smith; and one sister, Barbara Quain.Surviving are her two daughters, Jana DeSmit, and Jill (William) Gardner; two grandchildren, Joseph (Natalie) Gardner and Morgan Gardner, two amazing great-granddaughters; Julia and Emma Gardner, and sister; Beth (Doug) Russ.Mom, you will be greatly missed!
