Beth Helgoe ObituaryPublished by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2026.Hadley Beth Charlotte Helgoe (Carlson), 90, passed away peacefully in family hospice care in Hadley, Massachusetts on January 13, 2026. Beth was born on April 13, 1935, in Alcester, South Dakota to Clarence and Gertrude Carlson (Sedgwick).  She was raised on a family farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse as a child. Beth was loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1957 with a degree in English. She worked as a reading teacher and retired as a contract specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration at the age of 75.  Beth and Burnett "Bernie" Milton Helgoe, Jr., her husband of 48 years, raised their family primarily in Central Illinois and the rest of their lives in Edina, Minnesota. Beth loved singing and was a devoted member of the Senior Choir at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church for several decades. She also toured with the Sweet Adelines which sang at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1977. After she moved to Massachusetts, she enjoyed worship and music at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amherst. Her cherished husband preceded her in death as did her parents and siblings: Gordon, Jean, Rodney (Pat), Robert (Loris), Ruth LaBarr (Robert) and great-grandson Bartholomew. She is survived by her children Jennifer Victor (Matthew), Catherine Helgoe, Barron Helgoe (Laurie), and Carol Brenner; grandchildren, Annika Fett, Hans Fett, Bjorn Helgoe (Sheng), Joshua Helgoe (Adriana Bracho), Veronica Victor (Colin Gauthier), and great-grandson Keng Bear Helgoe. Memorials to benefit the choir ministry at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amherst, MA. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel. Memorial Service will be Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave South, Minneapolis. Beth will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
