Galion, OH

Bernice Morgan, 86, of Galion, passed away at her home on March 14, 2026. She was born in Cawood, Kentucky, on January 8, 1940, to Oscar and Josie (Gailey) Moore.

Bernice married William “Shorty” Morgan on July 17, 1970; he preceded her in death on August 31, 2005. A devoted caregiver who worked in home health and nursing homes, she also babysat countless children over the years and lovingly welcomed them into her family as her own grandchildren. She possessed a big heart and found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her great-great-granddaughter Clover held a special place in her heart as her little buttercup.

She is survived by her brothers Herman Moore, Charlie (Ruth) Moore, Bill (Sue) Moore, and James Moore; her sister Rosie (Clyde) Bates; her children Millard “Artie” (Cassie) Rowe of Tennessee, Teresa Smith of Galion, Janice (Tyler) Ruhl-Hoffman of Galion, and Amy (Elden) Mills of Bucyrus; grandchildren Cassie, Taz, Sara, Tylor (Dawn), and Cassandra (Brandon); great-grandchildren Walter, Kendrick, Leo, Wyatt, Brody, Evelyn, Mylan, Autumn, Akira, and Zylor; and one great-great-granddaughter, Clover. She also shared close friendships with Bernice Johnson and Peter Penny.

Bernice enjoyed attending church, singing gospel songs, solving word puzzles, painting pictures on her phone, playing 500 rummy, visiting garage sales and Goodwill, fishing, and spending time at family reunions. She cherished good conversations with family and friends and shared a special, playful bond with Tyler filled with laughter and shenanigans. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Doris Osborne and Eula Dockery, her brother Lee Roy Moore, her son-in-law Leonard Smith, and her great-granddaughter Grace Elivia Smith.
