Bernard J. "Ben" Barbarossa

Bernard J. "Ben" Barbarossa

Greenville, PA

Bernard J. “Ben” Barbarossa, age 92, of Greenville, passed away on the morning of March 12, 2026, at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.

Born in Greenville on August 4, 1933, to Vincent James and Italia “Edith” (Scialo) Barbarossa, Ben graduated from St. Michael’s High School in 1951 and later attended Sharon Business School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. He worked for many years at Westinghouse Electric Corp. and Blazon Inc. before joining PPG Industries, where he spent more than 25 years in Quality Control until his retirement in 1993.

A longtime member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Ben found quiet pleasure in watching The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and religious programs. He enjoyed sitting outside, visiting casinos with his wife, gathering with friends at the Rutter’s Garage coffee group, and most of all, spending time with his family.

On June 22, 1957, Ben married Bonnie Mowery, who survives him. He is also survived by his four children, Gwen (Mark) Eckard of Hubbard, Ohio, Brian “BJ” Barbarossa, Carol (Darryl) Junk, and Kevin Barbarossa, all of Greenville; four grandchildren, Mark Eckard, Sean (Crisstina) Eckard, Ryan (Kayla) Junk, and Brittany Junk; six great-grandchildren, Mark, Brody, Gabriella, Cacey, Gatlin, and Bowen; and his godchild, Daniel Mowery. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Teresa Rutter, Lena Snodgrass, and Florence Barbarossa.
