Bennie Jean Lewis, 96, of Granbury, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, March 10, 2026. Born on June 9, 1929, in Weatherford, Texas, to Lonnie and Lavina Lewis, he lived a life marked by quiet service, steady faith, and deep devotion to family.
Bennie served his country as an Air Force Military Policeman. A longtime member of Lakeside Baptist Church, he gave generously of his time as a team member of the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. He found great joy on the water, where he loved boating and fishing, and he was an avid golfer. Above all, Bennie cherished time with his family. He looked forward to family barbecues, spent many contented hours mowing and riding his lawnmower, and took special delight in playfully teasing his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavina Day, his father, Lonnie Lewis, and his brother-in-law, Steve Cerneka. Bennie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Deanna Lewis; his daughter, Claudia Teinert, and her husband, John; his stepdaughters, Kim Fawks and her husband, Keith, and Paulette Parks; numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, John Cerneka, and wife, Joyce; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who will remember his gentle spirit and warm sense of humor.
