November 10, 1951— March 11, 2026
Cumming, GA
Benjamin Franklin Westbrooks, 74, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.
Born on November 10, 1951, in Marietta, Georgia, Ben was the youngest son of the late Cecil Bloomer Westbrook and Dorothy Christine Moss. He was drafted into the United States Army at age 18 and was honorably discharged on his 21st birthday in 1972. He began his career as a Five Index Installer with Western Electric while still in high school and continued for more than 50 years as the company evolved through BellSouth, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies. Among his proudest accomplishments was helping to install phone lines for the Panama Canal. After retirement, he worked as a supervisor for Tyco and General Electric.
Ben is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Felicia Fitts Westbrooks; his son, Mykl (Jenny) Westbrooks of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and his daughter, Becky (Matt) Johnson of Powder Springs, Georgia. He leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Kirian, Alex, Josiah, and Makayla. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Roper of Armuchee, Georgia; sister-in-law Katrina (David) Green of Cumming, Georgia; niece Alicia (Patrick) Franklin of Canton, Georgia and her children Mason, Peighton, and Finley; nephew Alan (Rachel) Green of Jasper, Georgia and his children Camden, Knox, Isla, and Blaire; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Ernest, Faye, Larry, Carolyn, and Bill, as well as his in-laws Joe and Betty Fitts.
Known by many names—Franklin to his parents and siblings, Ben to his close friends, Chico to his work buddies, Uncle Franklin or Uncle Ben to his nieces and nephews, Dad to Mykl and Becky, and Gramps to his grandchildren—Ben lived a full life. He loved riding his Harley, sharing countless adventures with Felicia at Daytona Bike Week, Sturgis in 2001, and other motorcycle rallies, as well as the annual Hartman Cycles Toy Run each December. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing, and, above all, spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
