Beatrice Vaughan

Beatrice Hernandez Vaughan, affectionately known as Wera, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Aransas Pass, Texas, at the age of 72. She was surrounded by love after a brief illness. Born on November 5, 1953, to Ramon and Andrea Olivarez Hernandez, Beatrice carried a deep love for the outdoors, finding particular peace at the beach where cherished memories from childhood through adulthood filled her heart. She enjoyed cleaning and organizing, fishing, camping, and gardening, and embraced life with the free spirit of a hippie at heart.

Her greatest joy came from music, singing, dancing, and sharing laughter fueled by her witty sense of humor. Above all, nothing mattered more to Beatrice than her family. Her four children, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren were her heart, her light, and her joy. She had an abundance of love to give and was always ready to help in any way she could, even if only through prayer. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed, loved, and valued.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Andrea Hernandez; her five brothers, Epifanio, Ricardo, Pedro, Cruz, and Juan Hernandez; and her beloved grandson, Alfonso Sanchez III.

Beatrice is survived by her children, Samantha Sanchez, Jimmy Esquivel, Ruchel (Jesse) Rodriguez of Aransas Pass, and Felicia (Ricky) Menard of Houston; her brothers, Guadalupe (Mary) Hernandez, Pablo (Connie) Hernandez, and Jerry (Jane) Hernandez; her sisters, Rosa (Raul) Moreno and Silvia (Edward) Gill; along with many uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Those who knew her will always remember that she loved them more.
