Beatrice Peña

Beatrice Peña, lovingly known as “Ita,” passed away on March 6, 2026. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, on October 20, 1931, she lived first in the Bay Area and later in Sacramento. Throughout her life she embodied kindness, generosity, and quiet strength, devoting herself fully to her family.

She was a loving mother to her sons, Nelson and Oscar, and a proud grandmother to Robert, Juliana Plascencia (husband Fabian), Kathryn, Rebekah, and Matthew. Beatrice found simple joys in playing Parcheesi and puzzles, listening to boleros and old ballads, traveling the world with her family, and tending her garden at home.

She is survived by her sons, their wives MaryAnn (Oscar’s wife) and Alejandra (Nelson’s wife), her grandchildren, and extended family, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
