Beatrice Korenek ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home - Rockdale on Mar. 6, 2026.Beatrice Paula Korenek, 82, of Temple, formerly of Rockdale, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, and went to be with her Lord and Savior.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Father John officiating. A Rosary will be recited one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place in Temple, Texas.Beatrice was born January 6, 1944, in San Antonio to Werner and Elizabeth Ottmers. She grew up in San Antonio and at the age of nine was diagnosed with Polio. Through her strength and determination, she overcame the illness. She graduated from St. Gerard Catholic High School in 1961.In 1962, she married the love of her life, Frank C. Korenek. In 1963 the couple was stationed in Frankfurt, where Beatrice worked for USAA and Civil Service. While living in Germany, they welcomed their daughter, Deborah Ann Korenek, in 1964.In 1966, they returned to the United States and lived briefly in Thorndale before moving to Rockdale in 1967. There, Beatrice worked for Aluminum Company of America as an Executive Secretary, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.In addition to her full-time career, Beatrice owned and operated Korenek's Kakes, where she became well known as a talented baker and cake decorator. She created specialty cakes for all occasions and was widely sought after throughout the surrounding communities.In 1983, Beatrice and her family moved to Minerva, where she helped her husband with the family cattle and hay operation-often driving her own tractor-while continuing her cake business.In 2013, she moved to Temple to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren, and medical facilities.Beatrice is survived by her loving husband, Frank C. Korenek; her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Milo Cazares; granddaughter Alisha Slusher and her significant other Dante Terrell Sr., and their son, great-grandson Dante Terrell Jr.; and grandson Stryker Black and his significant other Caitlin Trainer.She was preceded in death by her parents, Werner and Elizabeth Ottmers, and her grandson, Shane Black.Beatrice will be remembered for her strength, devotion to her family, hard work, and the joy she brought to others through her kindness and her beautiful cakes.
