Batina Mahaffey ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Labby Memorial Funeral Home - DeRidder on Mar. 16, 2026.Batina Marie Mahaffey, 57, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on March 14, 2026, in DeRidder, Louisiana.Batina was born on April 15, 1968, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, to Alex James Joubert and Claudia Ann Mahaffey.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana, with Rev. Dalton Isbell and Bro. Strat Marcantell officiating. Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek, Louisiana.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home.Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Cornelius Mahaffey Jr., Randall Mahaffey, Jessie Clark, Laitin Henry, Mark Schemerhorn IV, and Jason Joubert.Batina is survived by her loving husband of 41 years Cornelius Andrew Mahaffey and children: two sons, Cornelius "Tater" Mahaffey and wife Bridget of DeRidder, Louisiana, and Randall Mahaffey and wife Jordan of DeRidder, Louisiana; and one daughter, Stephanie Clark and husband Jessie of DeRidder, Louisiana.She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Claudia Mahaffey, her brothers: Bradley Joubert and wife Brandi of Dry Creek, Louisiana; Jason Joubert and wife Bridget of DeRidder, Louisiana; and Christopher Guillory of Ville Platte, Louisiana.Batina leaves behind a large and cherished group of grandchildren: Patrick Clark, Emily Clark, Sutton Slaydon, Conner Mahaffey, Ryleigh Mahaffey, Melaina Mahaffey, Mariah Gonzales, Makayla Henry, Keiarra Henry, Reagan Laird, Laitin Henry, Brianna Schemerhorn, Mark Schemerhorn IV, Travis Schemerhorn, and Alyssa Schemerhorn.She also leaves behind 13 great grandchildren with one on the way.She was preceded in death by her brother, Alex James Joubert, Jr.; and grandchildren, Clint Clark, Kenzie Mahaffey, and Abigail Schemerhorn.Batina was a devoted mother and grandmother who never stopped loving her family through both the good times and the hard ones. She was tender-hearted, caring, and God-fearing. Batina loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing with her dog, and enjoying life's simple moments. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed coloring and drawing, as well as fishing. Some of her most treasured memories were the slumber parties she shared with her grandchildren and enjoying ice cream together.Though her family's hearts are heavy with loss, they find comfort in the love and memories she leaves behind. Batina's kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for her children and grandchildren will live on in each of them. The lessons she taught, the hugs she gave, and the joy she shared will never be forgotten.
