Barry Wayne Moore Sr., 78, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on March 16, 2026. He was the son of Aubrey Moore and Christine Moore, and the husband of Sandy Moore for 58 years.
Barry was born on October 15, 1947, in Lynchburg, Va. He attended school at Brookville High School then enlisted in the United States Airforce. Barry was a member Beulah Baptist Church as well as Believers Fellowship. He loved sports of all types and was an avid softball player for many years.
His professional career started in Public Works with Campbell County Water Authority then with the City of Lynchburg. He then moved into sales where he excelled in many different fields. He enjoyed being out in the community taking care of the needs of his customers. All that met and knew him, loved his quick-witted personality & charm. He loved making people laugh and was always the life of the party. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by his son Steve Moore and his wife Laura Spriggs-Moore. His Grandchildren, Alexandra Arthur, Lilly Moore and Caroline Moore. His brother Aubrey Moore Jr. and wife Dottie, sister Janet Creasy and husband Greg, sister Ann Parnell and husband Hugh, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barry is predeceased by his other son Barry Wayne Moore Jr. also of Lynchburg, Va.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
His service will be on Saturday March 21, 2026, with visitation from 3pm to 5pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, followed by a service in their onsite chapel.
