Barry James Warner, 78, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867 on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 11:00 am EDT, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm EDT, officiated by Rev. Barry Warner was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 28, 1947, to the late Melvin Warner and Elva Dunn Warner. As a teenager, Barry was a Marine Motor Mechanic. After graduating high school, he joined the Army and obtained numerous awards such as the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars, Cross of Gallantry with palm, and many others. He prided himself in training dogs to detect land mines in Vietnam. His greatest adventure through life was meeting the King and Queen of Thailand while serving in Vietnam. They were amazed by his ability to train dogs and contacted the pentagon and DOD to request his return to Thailand to train more dogs. He was the only American to do this. He held onto his love for Rottweilers and German Shepards throughout the rest of his life. After retiring from the army, he enjoyed a quiet life, collecting coins, and taking care of those he loved. He enjoyed watching si-fi and horror movies and was a very hard worker. Barry will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Barry Warner is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara Jean Warner; daughter, Mary Alice Warner; and sister, Dawn Antanoff.

Barry is survived by his daughters, Casey Warner, Alicia Kish, and Dawn Warner; sisters, Jill Warner, and Joy Warner; grandchildren, Jonathan Daubert, Adam, Alivia, Anthony, and Alexis; and close caregiver and friend, Beverly Sosa.
