She was the oldest of five children to Bob and Doris Hemphill. She passed away in her sleep at her home on March 2, 2026, at the age of 73. Barbara lived most of her life in Nickerson, KS. She was a hard worker but most of all the best mom and grandma ever. Barbara fought a long fight of COPD for years. Now she can finally breathe the heavens air.Barbara married Bobby D. Washburn on May 21, 1971, and together they had two children, Angela Marie and Michael Dean. She loved her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the moon and back.Her grandchildren are: Katlin, Cassie, Colby, Kristen, and Mia.Her great-grandchildren are: Hunter, Blaire, Kyson, Letti, Wacey, Braxton, and Kallan.Barbara was a true Republican and was not afraid to tell anyone what she thought. She was a spitfire for sure. Barbara will be missed by her family and friends forever.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob and her brother Bobby Hemphill.Survivors include: Sherry, her sister (one of her favorite people on this earth) John Bass, Mike Hemphill, Cheryl Hemphill, Steve Hemphill, and Patricia Hemphill.A celebration of life will be held for Barbara on March 21st at the Community Center in Nickerson, KS, located at 11 N Nickerson St, from 1:00-4:00PMTo send a flower arrangement in memory of Barbara Washburn, please click here to visit our sympathy store.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
