Barbara Sue Winget

August 31, 1939 March 8, 2026

Lindale, TX

Barbara Sue Winget, age 86, of Georgetown, Texas, and most recently of Lindale, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her children David, Chris, and Erin. Born on August 31, 1939, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Virgil Junior Winget and Lietta Juanita Singhiser Winget, she graduated from Woodward High School and went on to study biology and chemistry at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She completed her medical technologist training in Elkhart, Indiana, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science from Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, Texas, at the age of 54.

Barbara worked as a medical technologist for the Texas State Health Department, where she conducted newborn screening tests that helped identify health conditions in children across the state. A woman of many creative talents, she played piano and classical guitar, and found joy in quilting, embroidery, appliqué, and watercolor. She loved antiquing, cherished her pets, and was instrumental in helping to establish Holy Russian New Martyrs Orthodox Mission in Georgetown. An avid traveler, she circled the globe twice, explored South America and Antarctica, and lived for a time in Hawaii, yet Texas remained her true home.

She is survived by her children, David Alexander Singhiser, Christopher Mark “Chris” Bennett and his wife Tammie Sue, Erin Bennett Duke and her husband Jerry Kevin Duke, and Quyen Thanh Ha and his wife Vivian Thi Ho, as well as her beloved French Bulldog, Zoe. She is also survived by her grandchildren Linda Noelle Navarro and husband David Daniel Navarro, Lauren Alexis “Alex” Bennett and fiancé William Rick Franey, Kaitlyn Michelle White and husband Robert Stewart White, Ethan Minh Pham, Peter Thanh Ha, and Faith Thanh Ha, and great-grandchildren Peyton Danielle, Brooklynn Faith, Hailey Grace, Gabriella Hope, Aria Rose, Scarlett Renae, and Blakeley Dianne, who is expected to arrive in June.

Barbara—known lovingly as Bobbie, Barb, Mom, Grammy, and Gram—will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her final wish was to be near her family, surrounded by their love, and to remind them to go confidently in the direction of their dreams.
