Barbara Rogers Wood

Barbara Rogers Wood, age 84, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. Born on April 6, 1941, in Athens, Georgia, to the late Frank Melvin Rogers and Georgia Lorene Cantrell, she dedicated her life to caring for others through a long and distinguished nursing career.

Barbara graduated with the first nursing class of Brenau University in 1963. She worked in Labor and Delivery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for 13 years before joining Dr. Bill Manus’s practice in 1976, where she continued serving patients with dedication and compassion for the next 48 years. A faithful member of New Holland Baptist Church, she found great joy in spending time with the church’s senior group.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marvin Wood, Jr. Barbara is survived by her children, Michael Pugh, Garry Wood, and Sally (Randy) Smith; her grandchildren, Dylan Roberts, Andrew Smith, Ty (Madison) Smith, Katie (Trey) Pinson, Lauren (Kevin) Woody, and Lindsey (Jarvis) Davenport; her great-grandchildren, Beau, Annie Lynn, Hampton, Hazel, Eva, and Evan; her brothers, Jim Rogers and Jerry Cantrell; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Jerry Pless.
