Barbara Adell Moldan (Stevens), 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 26, 1946, she grew up in the Black Hills and graduated from Lead High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

Barbara lived a life centered on family, creativity, and community. She found great joy in crafts and handmade creations, delighting in making things with her hands and sharing them with others. Her passion for history and local culture inspired her to become one of the founders of the Carthage Straw Bale Museum, where her dedication to preserving the community’s unique heritage left a lasting mark.

Family was the heart of Barbara’s world. She is survived by her husband, Norbert Moldan, and her children Kenneth O’Dell (Ruby), James Hurne, and David Hurne. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her deep happiness. She is also survived by her siblings Stephen, Laurie, and Teresa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Margaret Stevens, and her brothers Terry and Glenn.

Barbara will be remembered for her warm heart, creative spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her kindness, generosity, and love of sharing her talents and stories touched many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
