Barbara LaVonne "Barb" Skiles

Barbara LaVonne "Barb" Skiles, 84, of Walkerton, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton following an illness. She was born on March 25, 1941, in Chicago to the late Lloyd and Elmee (Johnson) Cable. Barb spent most of her life in the Walkerton area, where she was known as a kind, loving woman who deeply cherished her family and the simple joys of life. On Dec. 21, 1958, in Donaldson, she married the love of her life, LeRoy Devon Skiles. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on Nov. 20, 2015. Barb devoted many years of her career to Swan Lake Resort/United States Golf Academy, where she worked as the housekeeping supervisor for nearly twenty years. She took great pride in her work and the friendships she made along the way. Above all, Barb loved her family. She treasured her role as "Nana" and found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping and doing crafts, often creating things that brought happiness to those around her. She is survived by her children, Pam (Larry) O'Dell of Lexington, North Carolina, Kerri (Joe) Fraschetti of Walkerton, Darren (Jennifer) Skiles of Lexington, North Carolina, and Troy (Trisha) Skiles of York, South Carolina. She was a proud Nana to Jerrod and Jason Fraschetti, Justina Nifong, Derrick and Kyle O'Dell, and Chloe and Siddalee Skiles; and a loving great-grandmother to Jayden, Kaydence, Haylie, Lillian, Landon, Julia, Harlow, Beckett, and Lainey. She is also survived by her devoted sister-in-law, Pam Cable, nieces Jessica Cable and Heather Rauen and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband LeRoy, and one brother, Leslie Cable. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. EDT on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barb's memory to Pet Refuge.
