January 6, 1939— March 12, 2026
San Antonio, TX
Barbara Kay Morgan, born Barbara Kay Fowler on January 6, 1939, in Brackettville, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2026. She married Thomas Morgan on February 22, 1958, and together they raised three children: Floyd Thomas Morgan (Rose), Tamara Kay Brown (Joel), and Mary Frances Milner (Dwayne, deceased).
While her children were young, Barbara devoted herself to their activities and education. She served as a leader for the Pop Warner pep squad, hand-sewed skating costumes for Mary and traveled across Texas to support her in roller-skating competitions, and remained actively involved in the McCollum High School Band Boosters, Rodeo Club Boosters, and the PTA. Her dedicated service included holding the offices of Vice President of the Terrill Wells PTA, President of the Carroll Bell Elementary PTA, and Secretary of the District PTA simultaneously, for which she received a lifetime membership in the PTA.
After her children were grown, Barbara became a committed member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She belonged to several chapters, served as Worthy Matron multiple times, held various Star Point positions, and was appointed Deputy Grand Matron. Prior to her passing, she had been named Grand Electa, a distinguished statewide honor. She took particular pride in the organization’s charity work with Patriot Paws, which provides service dogs for veterans. She was also a longtime member of Old Rock Baptist Church, where she taught adult Sunday School.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Tommy Morgan, her mother Georgie Grethel Taylor, her father Floyd J. Fowler, her aunt Ima Fowler, and her sister Violet Louise Vansickle. She is survived by her three children, Floyd, Tammie, and Mary; her grandchildren William (Fumika), Samuel, Amanda, Garrett, Gwendalynne (Nathan), and Trey; and her great-grandchildren Himari, Shinnosuke, Brentley, Jameson, and Avery.
