Barbara Jean Smith

Barbara Jean Smith, age 88, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born in McKeesport on October 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Frances Morris Kossuth. A graduate of St. Peters Catholic High School, Barbara remained a lifelong member of the former St. Pius V Church, now known as Mary, Mother of God Parish.

She is survived by her sons, George Stephen (Kathryn) Smith of New Stanton, Pennsylvania; Rodger Alan Smith of McKeesport; and Brian Glenn (Corinda) Smith of Liberty Borough; her grandchildren, Natalie (Joseph) Formica, Casey (Andrew) Rogowski, Brianna (Michael) Sokolowski, Brandon Smith, Adam Smith, Spencer Smith, and Brenda Smith; five great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Lorraine (James) Evans of Versailles Borough and Maryann (William) Richard of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Smith; her son, Mark Robert Smith; and her brother, Stephen Kossuth.

She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister whose quiet strength and deep faith touched the lives of all who knew her.
