Mrs. Miller, age 85, of Meridian went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Her daughters, Mary Jo and Tonya write: "Mom was a talented seamstress who shared her gift with others for more than 65 years. She loved sewing and could make just about anything-from pillows and beautiful comforters for her bed to most of her girls' clothing. She worked many years at the Liberty Shop in Meridian before retiring, but her love for sewing never stopped. She continued taking in sewing at home until her health began to decline.
Jean also loved cooking for her family. Some of our favorite treats were her delicious fudge and her famous caramel cake, which always brought everyone together.
One of her greatest joys was riding through the countryside with Sonny on their motorcycle. She especially loved telling the story about going on a double date with Elvis Presley before he became famous-a story that always brought smiles and laughter.
While she dearly loved her girls, her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. They lovingly called her "Nanny Jean." She always wanted the very best for them and encouraged them to work hard, follow their dreams, and make something meaningful of their lives.
Her love, guidance, and encouragement will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her."
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Jo Robinson (Randy) and Tonya Pagels (Robert); grandchildren, Crystal Bass (Anthony), Summer Alexander (Jason), Ashly Ballard, and Matthew Pagels (Leah); twelve great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Hatcher, Billy Hatcher (Jerri); two sisters, Jo Ellen Martin (Jack) and Lee Ann Poynter (Charlie); and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. "Sonny" Miller and one grandson, Corey Steil.
