She is no longer suffering and is with her lord and reunited with her family in heaven.Barbara was born on March 8, 1929, to the late Robert and Ida (Erdman) Smith. She was born a twin with her sister Virginia (Smith) Canfield, who she is now reunited with.Barbara married her husband, Patrick Callahan, on November 20, 1948. They lived happily for 50 years, before Patrick sadly passed on September 5, 1999.Barbara was known for her love of traveling as well as watching and attending NASCAR races. Her active nature was very prevalent in her life. She lived on Lake Wausau for many years, where she loved snowmobiling and going on pontoon rides. Any time outside in nature was a true pleasure for Barbara.Even in her later years of life, Barbara was heavily involved and active member in her community. She was a member of the Wausau Women's Club as well as the Wausau Senior Choir. Not only that, but she spent a lot of time participating in the local church choirs: Pilgrim Lutheran Church choir and Bethleham Lutheran Church Choir.Barbara is survived by her daughter, Katherine Callahan; nieces, Sara (Philip) Duellman and Susan (Kent) Larson; and great niece and nephews, Nicholas (Niki Quillman) Jarntowski, Joshua (Ashley) Jarntowski, Jacob Duellman, Lizabeth Larson, and Duke Larson. They will all miss her dearly.Barbara will move on to join her parents, husband, twin sister, and brother, Robert Smith Jr. in heaven, who preceded her in death.Barbara's family wants to give thanks to Corrine at Inclusa, the Care Partners staff, and Amanda at Interim Hospice as well as the rest of the staff.Per Barbara's wishes, there will be no formal service.Family and friends may go to MWCS.WS to leave words of remembrance.Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
