Barbara James

Barbara James, age 91, a resident of Hudson, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at her home on Big Turkey Lake. She was a former Portland and Randolph County resident. Barbara was born April 16, 1934, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Ada (Roser) Hardman. She graduated from Portland High School in 1953. Barbara worked for Anchor Hocking, Jay Garment, Randolph County School Corporation and Red Gold in Geneva. She was a member of the Price of Peace Lutheran Church in Hudson, Indiana. She married Delbert Jesse James on February 15, 1963 and he passed away on May 4, 2017. Survivors include: her son: Darin James (Kim Christlieb) – Lagrange, Indiana; her step-daughter: Terri Hall (husband Terry) – Union City, Ohio; her sister: Bette Stahley (husband Jack) – Celina, Ohio; one granddaughter, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12-2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Graveside services will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, north of Farmland, Indiana.
