Barbara J. Slabaugh

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara J. Slabaugh of South Bend, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 6, 2026 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin P. Turnock and Ruth E. Turnock (Borntrager); her husband Richard G. Slabaugh; and her brother Daniel P. Turnock. She is survived by: her children, Sharon S. Mowery (Mark) of Greenwood, Indiana and David A. Slabaugh (Tina) of Osceola, Indiana; her grandchildren, Colin Mowery (Katie) of Franklin, Kaitlin Mowery of Chicago, Austin Slabaugh of Osceola and Joshua Slabaugh (Jenna) of Mishawaka, Indiana; and her siblings, Sue Pare of South Bend and Donald Turnock of Arkansas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, March 13th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A rosary will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 7:30 PM at the Kaniewski Funeral Home (3545 N Bendix Dr, South Bend, IN 46628). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Monica Church (222 W Mishawaka Ave, Mishawaka, IN 46545).
