(MEDWID) HEINLEINWith heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Joanne Heinlein, 82, of Pittsburgh, who passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.Born on February 2, 1944, Barbara grew up in Woods Run, PA. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Bernard J. Heinlein, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised their three children in their home on Troy Hill.Barbara was a retired banker of 35 years who devoted her life to her family. She was known above all for her selflessness, always placing others before herself. Barbara was fundamentally kind, deeply compassionate, and exceptionally generous-qualities that touched everyone who knew her. In addition to her unwavering love for her family, she enjoyed reading, swimming, and spending time with dogs.She was a devoted member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 7090.Barbara is survived by her loving children, Bernard N. Heinlein, William J. Heinlein, and Joanne (John M.) Klocko; her cherished grandchildren, John B. Klocko and Jacquelyn B. (Michael) Tedesco; and her brother, Richard N. Medwid. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard J. Heinlein; her parents, Nicholas and Joanne Medwid; and her brother, James L. Medwid.Family and friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at HUGHES FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1501 Lowrie Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212- Troy Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1520 Claim Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Burial service will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, 4000 Mount Troy Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15214. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of your choice or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
