June 21, 1943— March 8, 2026
Laceyville, PA
Barbara J. Culver, a beloved figure in her community and cherished family member, passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on June 21, 1943, in Towanda, Pennsylvania, she lived a life centered on deep love for her family, her community, and a quiet passion for service.
Barbara graduated from Wyalusing High School in 1962. She worked as a teenager at George’s Restaurant, later at Bendix, and then moved to Columbia, South Carolina, with friends, where she was employed at Argus. Upon returning to Northeastern Pennsylvania, she worked alongside her father at Automation, cherishing their daily commutes together. She also served part-time at the Sugar Run Post Office and spent many years lovingly babysitting children, including her treasured nieces and nephews.
Her warm and caring nature was evident in her volunteer work at Braintrim Baptist Church, where she gave more than 40 years of service and helped with Vacation Bible School. She found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, volunteering in the church nursery and sharing memorable family vacations filled with NASCAR races, camping trips, visits to Knoebels, and peaceful time at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Barbara loved gospel music, played the piano, and sang duets with her sister Carol at Skinners Eddy Methodist Church and other venues. A gifted homemaker, she learned to cook from her mother and delighted others with her meals. She also enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and hats for newborns and tending to the beautiful flowers in her backyard.
After her husband David retired from P&G, Barbara traveled the country with him, visiting family in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Nevada, Wyoming, and Kentucky. She held especially dear a trip to Las Vegas with her sister Carol for the birth of her granddaughter and cherished time spent at their property in Dallas, Texas, with her sister-in-law Louise and brother-in-law Skip Snyder.
Barbara is survived by her children, Betsy Gacha (Tim), Deborah Swenson (Scott), Gary Culver, Kendra Cornelius, Jessica Culver, and Marissa Culver, and son-in-law Eric Risch; her grandchildren, Brianna (Bryan), Emily (Jeremy), Laura (Angel), Matt, Rebecca, Natalie (Grant), Jared (Erin), Jacob, Josh, Brady, Erica (Tedroy), Jenna, Madison, Taylah (Kyle), Alexis, Nathan, and Owen; her great-grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Winry, Mia, Eden, Sydney, Shay, Aubrey, Evelyn, Freya, Wyatt, Tedroy, Zakarai, and Weston; her siblings, Carol Furman and Roger Repsher; and her sister-in-law Linda English. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Culver; her daughter, Pamela Risch; her son-in-law, Herbert Cornelius; her granddaughter, Ashley Roehrig; her great-granddaughter, Avery Roehrig; and other beloved family members.
