Barbara Anne Schatzel Ide, a beloved mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 15, 2026, in Jamestown, North Carolina, at the age of 91.

Born on June 12, 1934, in Rome, New York, Barbara dedicated her life to education, family, and community service. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from Wellesley University and spent her career nurturing young minds as a school teacher, later teaching GED classes at Forsyth Technical Community College. She found great joy in cooking, traveling to new places, and spending time with her family, sharing her warmth and kindness with everyone she met.

A longtime member of Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church in High Point, Barbara was a founding member of the Stevens Ministry and generously volunteered with the Kiwanis Club of High Point. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Ide. She is survived by her three children, Bill Ide of Alexandria, Virginia, Andy Ide and his wife Cammie of Greensboro, and Kate Thompkins and her husband Christopher of Hamilton, New York. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Hannah, Phoebe, Christopher Jr., Mitchell, Colton, Stephen, and Katie, and her great-grandchildren Cole and Grant.

Her legacy of love, learning, and service will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
