Barbara Hopkins

Barbara Nadine Hopkins, age 69, of Whitesburg, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. Born on July 22, 1956, Barbara was a devoted member of Free Spirit Missionary Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit and her heart of gold that touched the lives of so many.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Bell; mother, Della Sweet Patterson; stepfather, Den Patterson; sons, Jonathan Monroe Young and Benjamin Jesse Young; and sister, Sue Organ.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Steve Hopkins; son Joseph “Joey” Young and his wife Christina; grandchildren Emily Young, Ramsey Young, Mason Young, Emma Owens, and Brody Young; great-grandchildren Rozlynn and Blaine; sisters Shelby Smallwood (Elmo) and Lura Oppertshauser (Eric); brother Taylor Bell (Sharon); brother-in-law Jerry Organ; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She also shared a special bond with her dear friend Dwight Campbell.

Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
