Barbara Cannon Matthews, age 83, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Barbara was the youngest child of Oscar and Fairy Cannon. She grew up in Lumpkin County, where she graduated from Lumpkin County High School and attended North Georgia College.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 22 years, John Matthews of Bethesda, Maryland. Barbara is survived by John’s five children and their families, her sister Jean Cannon McCall, her brother Pat Cannon, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
She will be remembered for the quiet strength and warmth she brought to those who knew her.
